The Macarthur Communications Rural Fire Brigade is always looking for new members! We are a non - active firefighting brigade! Our role is primarly communications. We assist in the dispatch and control of incidents. We also assist on the fireground in an incident management capability. We also need people to help with firefighting, catering, community engagement and the like within the Macarthur District. We can put you in touch with the captains of these Macarthur Brigades.
If you'd like more information on joining the brigade, please visit the NSW RFS website or contact us through this website. Other options are to email and tell them which brigade you are interested in joining.

Below is some information on the training to become a member of the Macarthur Communications Brigade
Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 1900 we meet at the Macarthur Fire Control Centre and we conduct  training that has been arranged by brigade members.

It is an expectation of members that they are actively involved on and off the fire ground. This allows us to be prepared and understand each member's capabilities .

Training in the RFS

The RFS provides all training and qualifications for each member as required. If you wish to complete a qualification you simply apply to attend the course and if there is a place available you will be sent the joining instructions. The minimum requirement for Communications is Bush Firefighter Support. We recommend that all members complete the Bush Firefighter course so they can go on a fireground. This course is held regularly outside fire season. So there will be a delay in courses if you choose to join between October and March. As you can understand this is our busy period and to run a course, we require appliances and personnel to attend the course and this makes them unavailable for fire calls.
